The City of Duluth is taking new legal action over the Fond-du-Luth Casino, filing a lawsuit against the federal government.
According to the lawsuit, the city is challenging a decision by the National Indian Gaming Commission on payments for the casino's presence downtown.
That decision said the payments from the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa to the city should stop because they violated the National Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
Gunnar Johnson, Duluth's city attorney, said the lawsuit does not involve the Fond du Lac band.
