LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) - University housing rules in Wisconsin are changing to accommodate varying lifestyles.

This fall, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse will allow male and female students to live together in suite-style dorms. Residency director Nick Nicklaus says the university will also provide space for lesbian, gay and transgendered couples.

UW-Madison is offering a new living option next semester called Open House: Gender Learning Community. The option is open to students of all backgrounds and sexual identities who will participate in weekly seminars.

Wisconsin Public Radio News (http://bit.ly/Xrvu19 ) says the UW Board of Regents prohibits co-ed housing, so each university needs approval from its chancellor.
