A Duluth city councilor is proposing allowing pawnshops to do business on Sundays, a service they've been barred from providing under city code.
Councilor Garry Krause proposes allowing pawnshops to operate between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sundays.
Current city code says "no pawnbroker shall receive a pledge or pawn or purchase any goods between the hours of 12 midnight on Saturdays and 12:00 midnight on Sundays, or between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6 a.m. on any other day of the week."
The proposed ordinance will likely see debate among councilors in a Thursday evening meeting at 5:15, and more discussion in Monday's regular city council meeting happening at 7 p.m.
