The Bayfield County Sheriff's Office is investigating an attempted armed robbery at a Cable gas station on Monday evening.
The incident happened around 9 p.m. at the Triple G Gas Station. Witnesses say two men entered the store, and one of them showed a handgun and demanded money.
The would-be robbers left after the clerk said she did not have access to the money. The two men are described as being about 20 years old. One was described as a white man but the other man's face was covered by a scarf or wrap. There was no vehicle description or direction of travel available.
The sheriff's office said it is unknown if this incident is related to other similar incidents in Douglas and Washburn counties. Arrests have been made in the Douglas County case.
