People of all three major world religions — Judaism, Christianity, and Islam — gathered together in Duluth on Saturday to raise money for Syrian citizens.
Syria is in the midst of a civil war, which has killed about 60,000 people, displaced 1.2 million people internally, and caused more than 500,000 people to leave the country. Many of them are in desperate need of food, winter clothing, and medical assistance.
On Saturday, the Islamic Center of the Twin Ports, The Unitarian Universality Congregation of Duluth and the Muslim Students Association of UMD teamed up to host a charity dinner to help provide relief to those people.
Goodwill donations were being accepted and will be sent to United Charity, a humanitarian group working to reach needy Syrians.
If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to the charity you can send it to the Islamic Center at 145 W Winona St. Duluth, MN 55803.
