Ironwood police have arrested two people after a New Year's Eve fire.
The fire at 131 S. Mansfield Street was reported at about 9:38 p.m. All tenants were able to evacuate safely.
The Ironwood Public Safety Department says its preliminary investigation found the fire was caused by an active methamphetamine lab on the second floor of the building. Components used to manufacture meth are hazardous and combustible, and authorities say there was an explosion during the manufacturing process.
The Gogebic Iron Area Narcotics Team (GIANT) and Ironwood Public Safety officers executed two search warrants in Ironwood and arrested two Ironwood residents. They face possible felony charges.
