Murder Charge in Grand Rapids Shooting

William Levi Payne, 26, of Bovey, now faces a murder charge in connection with a double shooting in Grand Rapids.
The Itasca Co. Attorney's office upgraded the charge on Monday, following the death of one of the victims.
Rosemary Oberg Johnson died from her injuries on Thursday. She was 59 years old.
She and her son, Paul Johnson, were shot on Saturday the 22nd in their home in Grand Rapids. They had been hospitalized in Duluth. Paul Johnson remains in critical condition, according to Essentia Health on Monday.
Payne is the alleged gunman. He was following his wife Sarah, and she went to visit the Johnsons that day.
He then also allegedly kidnapped her and threatened to kill her.
The court records said that Payne has been ordered to undergo a mental evaluation. he will also be held without bail, pending further order of the court.
