An out-of-control leaf burning fire in Hermantown spread to two homes and several sheds on Wednesday evening.
According to the Hermantown Fire Department, it started just after 5 p.m. behind the Skyline Court Motel on Elmwood Lane.
Hermantown Police and fire units responded to a report of shed on fire next to a home. They were assisted by Duluth Air Guard Fire and Canosia Fire Departments.
Authorities said a homeowner had been burning leaves behind his home, and thought the fire was out. He went back inside when it started the fire.
Hermantown Police went door-to-door and did evacuate some residents, however there were no injuries. In total, two homes and several sheds were damaged.
