ASHLAND, Wis. (AP) - Freshman Rep. Sean Duffy has raised about twice as much money as his Democratic challenger in Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District.
However, outside groups have been spending heavily on behalf of Democrat Pat Kreitlow.
Duffy raised $151,000 in the first part of October and $2.4 million overall. His campaign has just over $650,000 in the bank.
Campaign reports filed this week show Kreitlow raised $87,000 between Oct. 1 and Oct. 17. He brought in $1.2 million for the election cycle, and has $117,000 in the bank as of last week.
But the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and other outside groups are helping Kreitlow make up the difference.
The Center for Responsive Politics says outside groups have spent $2.1 million to oppose Duffy. Meanwhile, other groups have spent $1.4 million to target Kreitlow.
