Empty House Destroyed in Grand Lake Township

Heavy smoke made clean-up difficult at a vacant house fire in Grand Lake Township on Friday night. Reports of the fire came around 8 p.m.
The fire happened at 5327 Nelson Road. Grand Lake and multiple other agencies responded, including air guard support from Hermantown.
The unoccupied home was destroyed as smoke poured from it, however there were no injures. It's not know what caused the fire to start and an investigation is underway.
Nelson Road is just northwest of Duluth near Twig off Highway 53.
