A fire at Island Lake Inn north of Duluth started after trouble in the kitchen on Thursday night.

Gnesen Township was the primary fire crew responding on the scene around 8:30 p.m. Gnesen Township Assistant Fire Captain Tim Lacory said a fire ignited in a fan unit in the kitchen of the restaurant.

The blaze was limited to the first floor of the building, and quickly brought under control, but not before causing between $5-10 thousand dollars in damage.

Nobody was injured in the fire.

Normanna, Rice Lake, Fredenberg and Solway Township fire crews also responded. The Island Lake Inn is located about 20 miles north of Duluth on Rice Lake Road.
