Poll: Half Don't Recognize Minn. GOP Senate Candidate

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A new poll in Minnesota's U.S. Senate race shows that well more than half of respondents didn't recognize the name Kurt Bills, a central problem for the Republican challenger to Sen. Amy Klobuchar with the election less than six weeks away.
The Star Tribune released its Minnesota Poll results Thursday in the U.S. Senate race (http://bit.ly/Pq2y3R). Sixty-two percent of respondents hadn't heard of Bills, while Democratic incumbent Klobuchar had universal name recognition.
The poll of 800 likely voters taken Sept. 17-19 showed Klobuchar supported by 57 percent, with 28 percent for Bills. Another 7 percent said they would vote for someone else, while 8 percent remained undecided. Independence Party candidate Stephen Williams will also be on the ballot. The poll's margin of error was plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
