Blatnik Will Continue to Shine Bright

A decision is in for a new lighting scheme on the Blatnik Bridge. It's the illuminated design, something the public has largely spoken in favor of.
The lighting scheme will cast light off the interior of the bridge. Final design work will begin in a few weeks, and construction will start next summer. The final product should be done the fall of 2013.
Both Minnesota and Wisconsin's Departments of Transportation will each pay half of the estimated $1.2 million to install it.
Mn/DOT and Wis/DOT have asked for public opinion on the LED lighting options in the past weeks. A third option was to include no lighting scheme at all, an idea which was not well received by citizens during a public meeting last week.
