People gathered September 2 for the ninth-annual Labor Day Picnic in Virginia. It was hosted by the Iron Range Labor Assembly at Olcott Park to celebrate workers and union members, but everyone was invited.

There was food, raffle tickets and a beer garden. Several politicians were there as well, and many of them made speeches. U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar spoke at the event, and said Iron Range workers deserve a day of celebration.

“These are people who work so hard,” Sen. Klobuchar said. “They're working so hard in the mines, and in the mills. They deserve to get some recognition today.”

U.S. Senator Al Franken and Eighth Congressional District Candidate Rick Nolan were also at the picnic.
