A Cloquet theatre group is going the distance, taking their performance all the way to Japan.

The County Seat Theatre Company is being invited to perform at the World Festival of Children's Performing Arts in Toyama, Japan. The group held a BBQ event on Friday evening to help fundraiser for the trip. They're the only U.S. group to be invited to this year's prestigious festival.

"To be representing the United States and northern Minnesota is overwhelming," said Cheryl Kramer-Milder, Artistic Director for the County Seat Theatre Company. "It's been such an honor to even think about. This is a prestigious festival through the performing arts for children."

The group has already won national awards for its work, and this time they'll be performing a show called "Wiley and the Hairy Man".

The play is written by Harry Stokes, and it's based on an old folk tale.
