Anne Krafthefer
5th Grade Teacher
Rockridge/Lester Park, Duluth

Teaching for 32 years

WHY SHE WAS NOMINATED:
Mrs. Krafthefer is an "astounding teacher."  She looks for interesting ways to reinforce the subject she is teaching. Whether it is taking kids to a movie to help enrich the book they just read, meeting with students and families outside of school to deal with issues or having kids make a quilt to help with geometry concepts. Classes help with a
large quilt made as a service learning project.  (The larger quilt in this picture was given to a child attending Camp Heartland.)  Mrs. Krafthefer deserves to "get acknowledgement for the love, time and commitment she gives to each of her students."

WORDS THAT BEST DESCRIBE HER:
Exceptional. Loving. Determined. Selfless. "Teacher of the Year."

MORE ABOUT ANNE KRAFTHEFER:

What is your most memorable moment as an Educator?
"My most memorable moments as a teacher happen when a child has worked so hard, and gives me that look that says, "I understand!"  It is my pleasure to see that look many, many times in a school year, with many different children."
If you could pass along one piece of wisdom, what would it be?
"Effort = Outcome.  The time and care invested in yourself and others is yours to keep forever."
If you weren't an educator what would you be?
"Unhappy…I love my work!"
What do you do during summer vacation?
"Reflect on the previous school year, spend time with family and friends and prepare for the new students coming in the door in September."
Personal Information:
Mrs. Krafthefer is the third generation of teachers in her family.  She and husband Fabian have 4 children... Holly (husband Eric), Matthew, Emilee and Pete.  Holly and Matthew are also teachers... making them a four generation "teaching family."  The Krafthefer's have a grandson named Gabriel.  Mrs. Krafthefer enjoys quilting, reading and gardening.
