WHY SHE WAS NOMINATED:
Mr. Louzek's "hard work on and off the field is amazing." He has led the Moose Lake Willow River Rebels to the state tournament 4 times, 3 times in a row. He demonstrates good leadership to his students and players, and stresses the importance of community service. Each year, his football team participate in the Down Syndrome Buddy Walk in Duluth. They do community cleanups around the area and work on the football field to get it ready for the season. Mr. Louzek is "just one of the guys," to his students.

| What is your most memorable moment as an Educator? |
|
"The end of last school year a handful of seniors completed filled my office from floor to ceiling with balloons. Over the years students have pulled many pranks on me but the balloon filled office was by far the best." |
| If you could pass along one piece of wisdom, what would it be? |
|
"Take the time to develop relationships with the students. Find out what interests them. Have conversations that center around those interests. Give each student as much positive attention as possible because they will soak it up like a sponge." |
| If you weren't an educator what would you be? |
|
"I would do something that would involve being on the water as much as possible. Maybe Coast Guard or a Charter Sailboat Captain/Instructor." |
| What do you do during summer vacation? |
|
"I spend as much time playing with my family as possible. We charter a sailboat and sail around the Apostle Islands for a few days. We are planning to take a sailing class around the Florida Keys this summer. Our family has a cabin on Lake Mille Lacs so we spend most of the summer playing in the water. I also spend a lot of time with my football players getting ready for the football season." |

Mr. Louzek has been married to Kristin for 15 years. She was a teacher/coach and is now selling real estate. Daughter Mackenzi is in the 5th grade and participates in flag football and hockey. Son Dilon is in the 3rd grade and is in Karate, basketball and soccer. Mr. Louzek enjoys sailing, jet skiing, and fishing. |
