The man who died when his truck went through the ice on the St. Louis River is remembered as an avid fisherman and a great friend.

Superior police have identified the victim of Saturday's incident as Adam K. LaPorte. Many people knew LaPorte as a muskie guide.  On his guide service website he says muskie hunting moved quickly from a passion to an obsession. His friend and business partner Dustin Carlson said, "Adam was one of the best muskie fisherman/sportsman around. He was a great friend to many, and a great family man to his girlfriend Angie and her kids."

Saturday morning the Superior police department reported a call just after seven o'clock. The vehicle crashed through ice on the St. Louis River near Kilner Bay in Superior. A dive team entered the water shortly after. They found the body of the 37-year-old LaPorte that morning.

LaPorte had been a licensed guide for 17 years. On his website he says, "The experiences of fishing with parents and their children have always been the highlight of my seasons."
