MORE ABOUT KRISTEN BUSCH:

What is your most memorable moment as an Educator?
"There have been so many…with almost every student I've taught I can remember something memorable in terms of how they've touched my life. One of my favorite and most memorable activities I assign each year in my 9th grade Physical Science class is a buoyancy activity. The students have to design and build a boat made of only packaging tape and cardboard that has to float with the weight of two students in our school pool. We also have a race to see which boat can travel 2 lengths of the pool the fastest. The students start asking questions about the project at the beginning of the school year in anticipation even though the project isn't until May. To see their enthusiasm and hear their design ideas is refreshing and makes the project exciting and new every year."
If you could pass along one piece of wisdom, what would it be?
"Don't take nature for granted - enjoy and respect the environment.'
If you weren't an educator what would you be?
"I would work for the DNR or Nat'l Park Service doing fieldwork of some type so I could spend my days outdoors."
What do you do during summer vacation?
"We spend most of our summer playing outside, camping, swimming, boating, fishing, and going for walks. My parents live on Rainy Lake, so we also spend a lot of time with them enjoying the outdoors."
