Qualifications:

  • Interest in serious journalism
  • Attention to accuracy
  • Ability to make complicated topics clear
  • Write concise copy
  • Must work well with others as part of a team
  • Experience in a television newsroom helpful
  • College/University degree
  • Familiarity with region

Duties:

  • Produce newscasts for 6:00 & 10:00PM on Saturday and 10:00PM on Sunday
  • Select and write news stories
  • Edit some video tape
  • Monitor Associated Press Wire for stories
  • Call Police and Fire departments for information, monitor radio scanners
  • Coordinate news crews
  • In addition to working weekends, also produce other newscasts as needed for vacations and illness

    A government audit recommends the Federal Emergency Management Agency recover $1.5 million given to Duluth for 2012 flood aid. An audit found the city did not follow federal procurement standards in awarding the money for eight non-emergency contracts.

    Nearly 100 community members filled the Duluth City Hall Wednesday night to discuss a the construction of a Lakewalk connection between 20th Avenue East and 26th Avenue East along Lake Superior. A major concern that many community members have is privacy due to increased pedestrian traffic. There are also obvious concerns on how close the a new path would come to some of the preexisting complexes.

  • Sandstone Wildcat Sanctuary Completes its Biggest Cat Rescue

    It was the conclusion to the biggest and longest cross-country rescue ever on Wednesday at The Wildcat Sanctuary in Sandstone. The rescue of three cats and a leopard has been nearly four years in the making for the cat's former owner and more than a year in the making for sanctuary, which takes in big cats who've been surrendered by owners or by law enforcement action.

    Essentia Health has received a $213,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that will help for the expansion of its telemedicine services.
