WHY SHE WAS NOMINATED:
Mrs Botten takes the time to know each of her students and their families. She has a creative spirit. She started a running club with her class so that by the end of the year, each child will have run a marathon. Mrs. Botten also teaches her class American Sign Language.

What is your most memorable moment as an Educator?
"Teaching kids to read.  It happens every time a child has an 'ah-ha moment' and they finally get it."
If you could pass along one piece of wisdom, what would it be?
"Every child has great potential. You just need to spend the time to let them discover it!"
If you weren't an educator what would you be?
"I can't imagine doing anything else."
What do you do during summer vacation?
"Our family goes camping a lot and we spend a lot of time by Lake Superior. I spend time with my family."
Personal Information:
Mrs. Botten lives in Hermantown with her husband, two sons, a dog and a cat.  She loves to kickbox, run and play volleyball. She enjoys camping with her family and reading.
