A 32-year-old Duluth man was seriously injured when a rock went through his windshield, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and vault over a driveway.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the accident happened just before 12:45 p.m. Thursday about four miles east of Grand Rapids.

The man, identified late Thursday as Carney Lien, was airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth with serious injuries.

Hospital staff said Thursday night that Lien was in critical condition.
