"I'm an angel compared to some of my friends." — Lindsay Lohan

Once a freckle-faced Disney darling, Lindsay Lohan was on the brink of true Hollywood stardom in 2006, receiving rave reviews for her acting and courting comparisons to a young Jodie Foster. By the end of 2007, however, Lohan would find herself to be a more frequent visitor of rehab clinics and jail cells than of late night talk shows and red carpets. Today, she continues to make headlines for her bad behavior while hoping a role in a David Mamet play will help remind people that there's more to her than just drama-razzi. How and when did things go wrong for Lindsay? Check out our timeline of trouble below, complete with our trainwreck metric that rates incidents on a scale of 0 to 6 trainscars' worth of wreckage. Tune in to our Reelz original series Hollywood Scandals on Thursday, August 28 at 9p ET/PT, for the full story on how the Lindsay Lohan train derailed. Check the schedule for more chances to watch.

Ride the rails with Lindsay Lohan

2004

Mean Girls was Lindsay's first non-Disney movie, and this comedy written by Tina Fey was both a critical and commercial success, making Lohan a household name overnight and putting the 17-year-old firmly in the crosshairs of the paparazzi, who began following her every move.

Lohan's career shows no signs of slowing down, and she proves she wasn't just a child star in A Prairie Home Companion. Robert Altman's adaptation of Garrison Keillor's radio broadcast earned Lindsay rave reviews and the respect of her co-stars, with Meryl Streep calling her "a terrific actress."

Things definitely took a turn during the production of Georgia Rule. While playing a "rebellious teenager" in this Garry Marshall dramedy, Lohan acted the part in real life, partying so much that she began showing up late and even called in sick, actions which prompted Morgan Creek Productions CEO James G. Robinson to threaten legal action over her "irresponsible and unprofessional" behavior.

Following an admission by her publicist the month before that she attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, Lohan checks into Wonderland Rehab Center in January.

In May, Lindsay is pulled over in Los Angeles on suspicion of driving under the influence, and cocaine is found at the scene. Two days later, a rep for Lohan says in a statement that the actress has voluntarily admitted herself for treatment at an "intensive medical rehabilitation facility."

Lindsay checks out of Promises rehab in July and manages to stay sober during a trip to Las Vegas, which a big accomplishment for pretty much anyone. However, on July 24th, she is pulled over in Santa Monica on suspicion of driving under the influence and is arrested on five counts, including possession of narcotics. Hours after the arrest, Lohan is back in rehab, this time at Cirque Lodge.

In August, Lindsay makes a plea deal that allows her to avoid felony charges that could have sent her to jail, ending up with seven misdemeanors instead, including driving while under the influence of cocaine. She receives 36 months of probation, hundreds of dollars in fines, and is required to complete an alcohol education program.

In October, Lindsay receives an additional one year of probation for failing to complete her alcohol education classes. Oh, and she showed up more than an hour late for the probation hearing.

In May, LiLo misses a court hearing because she reportedly lost her passport in Cannes. After the incident, a judge sets her up with random weekly drug screening, she's banned from drinking alcohol, and she's fitted with her very own alcohol-detecting ankle bracelet.

Only a couple months later, in July, Lohan is cuffed and taken to jail after violating the terms of her probation. She's sentenced to 90 days, serves a little less than two weeks, and then she's immediately sent to the UCLA Medical center to start another stint in rehab.

Starting at the end of August, Lindsay is allowed to live at home, but she fails another drug test and is sent back into the pokey. She's released on bail and fitted with another alcohol-detection bracelet. In September, she checks into the Betty Ford Clinic and stays there until January 3, 2011.

2011

Less than three weeks after being released from rehab, Lindsay reportedly steals a necklace from a local jewelry store valued at $2,500. It turns out that theft is also a probation violation, and in April, Lindsay is sentenced to 180 days in jail and nearly 500 hours of community service.

In June, Lindsay is ordered back to court after a failed alcohol test, but Judge Sautner acknowledges that the court failed to renew random drug testing as part of Lohan's probation. The judge then tells Lindsay that she is guilty of "extremely poor judgement," and a truer verdict has never been pronounced in the whole history of law.

2012

January 14th is a red-letter day for Lindsay. She receives a glowing probation report, and has stuck to the terms set by the judge. Sautner tells her to "just keep doing what you're doing," which is a nice change of pace.
TRAINWRECK FACTOR: 1

In June, Lindsay shoots the made-for-TV movie Liz and Dick, and the summer holds plenty of LiLo drama. Her mishaps include getting into a car accident, being banned from the Chateau Marmont for not paying her bill, and paramedics getting called to her room due to her "exhaustion and dehydration." When Liz and Dick airs, her performance garners mixed reviews, with most falling somewhere between the "adequate" and "woeful" range.

Lindsay is doing as well as could be expected in 2012, until fall rolls around. In September she gets arrested for clipping a guy with her car outside a swanky New York hotel, in October the cops are called to her mother's house after Lindsay and Dina have a knock-down, drag-out fight, and in November Lindsay Lohan is arrested after allegedly punching a woman in the face.

2013

In March of 2013, Lindsay heads to court yet again, this time to face the misdemeanor charges connected to her June 2012 car accident. She is sentenced to more community service and another stint in rehab.

The Kickstarter-funded The Canyons is released in August, and a New York Times article about the movie suggests that Lohan is an on-set liability even when she's working on a micro-budget flick.

2014

March of 2014 brings a slightly different brand of Lohan drama. InTouch gets a hold of a hand-written list of 36 names and it's widely believed that the people named were all former lovers.
TRAINWRECK FACTOR: 2

In April of 2014 the OWN docuseries Lindsay premieres. The show gets disappointing ratings and is not renewed for a second season.
TRAINWRECK FACTOR: 1

Lindsay is currently scheduled to make her stage debut in a revival of David Mamet's Speed-The-Plow. The actress has already vowed that she will not miss any rehearsals or performances . Here's hoping this is the beginning of a successful comeback for this undeniably talented and troubled actress.
