As part of Navy Week, sailors made the rounds at Duluth hospitals on Tuesday.

They visited some of the younger patients at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in the afternoon. They handed out souvenirs like hats, and posed for pictures to give the kids a little escape.

"I'm a Minnesotan myself," said Commander Brian Tanaka, commanding officer on the USS Minnesota. "I have a great deal of gratitude to the community. So I am here to try and give something back to the community, to the state, and hopefully brighten day of some of the kids that are here."

A leader from the Navy also spent time at St. Luke's on Tuesday, speaking with the staff about his medical experience.
