Former Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe says he's reached a settlement with the Vikings to avert a threatened lawsuit over his release.
Kluwe had threatened to sue the team for workplace discrimination, saying the Vikings had only released part of the investigation into special teams coach Mike Priefer, who allegedly made a homophobic comment in 2012.
Kluwe also claims he was released from the team because of his public support of gay marriage. Kluwe first brought his concerns to light in a pointed article published on Deadspin.com.
The team denies those allegations, and the Vikings commissioned an independent investigation of the accusation and other facts surrounding Kluwe's release.
As part of the resolution, the Vikings will provide continued financial support for human rights and anti-hate causes, enhance its sensitivity training policy, and work to build awareness and understanding of LGBT issues.
Kluwe says he'll get no money in the settlement. Financial details weren't immediately released.
