MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A Republican candidate for a northwestern Wisconsin Assembly district says he'll likely seek a recount.

Michael Bub, James Edming, Shirl LaBarre and Scott Noble were all trying to advance out of Tuesday's GOP primary in the 87th Assembly District, which covers parts of Rusk, Sawyer and Taylor counties. Initial unofficial results showed the top two vote-getters were Bub and Edming, with Bub leading by three votes with all precincts reporting.

But Rusk County officials say they mistakenly gave Noble 20 votes that should have gone to Edming. Those votes have given Edming a 17-vote lead.

Bub says he's frustrated and likely will request a recount if the results stand after canvassers complete their official count.

The winner will face Democrat Richard Pulcher in the Nov. 4 general election.
