The Associated Press has declared current state Rep. Janet Bewley to be the winner of the Democratic primary election in Wisconsin's 25th Senate District.

Bewley was one of three Democrats who ran to replace retiring Sen. Bob Jauch (D-Poplar). She defeated Gary Kauther and Thomas Ratzlaff in the primary election.

Bewley will face Republican Dane Deutsch in the November election.  Bewley is from Ashland, while Deutsch is from Rice Lake.

The 25th Senate District covers Superior and parts of 13 northwestern Wisconsin counties, including all of Douglas, Bayfield, Ashland, Iron, and Washburn counties.
