Twelve new honorees were inducted into the Denfeld High School Hall of Fame Saturday.

Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau was among them. She was the first woman to serve in the role and was named the department's top spot in 2012.

Howard Sivertson and James Heffernan also highlighted the inductee class. Sivertson has written and published five books with his illustrations and also has a gallery in both Grand Marias in Duluth. Heffernan worked in journalism for 42 years before his retirement in 2005.

The other inductees included: Major General Wayne Gatlin (1942), Jack Puglisi (1960), Robert Lund (1938), Fred Friedman (1965), Prof. Jim Banovetz (1955), Betty Sullin (1962), Dave Hicks (1963), Ted Litman (1950), Jean Endrizzi (former teacher) and Janee Harteau (1982).

The 12 inductees were nominated and voted on based on their school and life achievements.
