On Monday, Superior Mayor Bruce Hagen announced that he still wants to lead the city and will seek re-election next year.

He made the announcement with a handful of supporters in the city council chambers. He said taxes remained flat during his time as mayor even as the city made big infrastructure improvements like the Tower Ave. reconstruction.

Hagen hopes similar work can be done on Belknap St., but said the decision to run for mayor was difficult.

“We love to travel, love to be with kids and grandkids, and Lois and I remind each other that when you reach 70 or 68 you might have 10 good years to make those things happen,” Hagen said.

He said his passion for local government and support from his wife helped make the decision. The mayoral election will take place next year in April.
