A Superior Police officer involved in an excessive force investigation is back on duty.

The Superior Police Department announced Tuesday that Officer George Gothner was placed back on administrative duty on Thursday, July 10. Gothner had been on paid administrative leave since late January.

The state is investigating whether Gothner used excessive force in his controversial arrest of Natasha Lancour, which was caught on camera in January. Lancour is charged with disorderly conduct, but her trial is on hold until the investigation of Gothner is complete.

The Superior Police Department said Tuesday that the investigation is taking longer than expected. They have placed Gothner on administrative duty, working on response plans to critical incidents. They said he will not return to patrol duty, pending the decision of the assigned special prosecutor.
