The Duluth Salvation Army is asking you to help end hunger with their annual July challenge. Last year Salvation Army's food shelf provided groceries for 8,551 meals. Over half of those meals went to children, and this July looks to be an equally challenging month.
Thanks to a proportional match from "Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless," the more you donate, the larger the amount from "Open Your Heart" will be.
These added dollars are stretched even further thanks to the Salvation Army's partnership with Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank and area retailers, allowing food to be purchased for much less than retail cost.
How to Help:
Bring or send a monetary donation or check (indicate "food" memo) to:

They also provide grants for food shelves and food banks to get the equipment they need--like freezers, shelving and trucks--to be able to serve the Minnesotans who can't afford enough food for their families.
