The Hopped Up Caribou Beer Festival is coming up and we had a couple of special guests to tell us all about it. Barb Swenson and Stephanie Slanga also brought appetizers and beer samples to showcase some of the local brews at the fest.

The Festival is farther north than any other beer festival in Minnesota, and several Duluth-or-nearby breweries are represented, including Bent Paddle, Castle Danger, Fitger's, Lake Superior, and Carmody Irish Pub.

The menu for the opening reception is very high-end beer food, including Stout Drenched Oysters, Rosemary-Kolsch Shrimp Skewers, and Hefeseizen Banana Bread. The brewer's breakfast is impressive as well: Duck Sausage Frittata and Brewer's Bloody Mary bar.

The event also features some fabulous caribou antler hats.
