The holiday weekend continued with the Great American Picnic at the Fitger's complex Saturday.

It was the place to be if you wanted barbeque, but didn't want to fuss with the grill. Everything from ribs to burgers were being served up.

The Midi restaurant put on the event for a second year. There was also live music and Owner Marie Schmidt said it's the American way to celebrate.

"To me, barbeque is American," Schmidt said. "I was born and raised in Germany, but coming over here I can see how important barbeque is to people, families. I love it myself."

Schmidt said the picnic will be back next year.
