A small state park in Koochiching County is temporarily closed due to flooding on the Rainy River.

The Minnesota DNR announced Wednesday that Franz Jevnue State Park near Birchdale is closed.  Access to the park is from Highway 11, which is closed between International Falls and the park due to water crossing the highway at Loman.

The secluded park has 21 camp sites and is primarily used by people fishing the river.  There are no reservations at the park, which is managed by Zippel Bay State Park.

The DNR says people can get updates on the park's status by visiting www.mndnr.gov/jevne, emailing info.dnr@state.mn.us, or calling 888-646-6367 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

On the other side of the state, Blue Mounds State Park near Luverne is also closed due to flooding.
