Duluth's Newest Venue Marks Opening with 3-day Music Bonanza

Thursday marked opening day for Duluth's newest bar and venue. 

Over the course of three days, 17 musical acts play as part of the the Red Herring Lounge Grand Opening Bonanza. 

Owner Bob Monahan, who also runs Chaperone Records in Duluth, says the new space at 208 E 1st St. is designed specifically as a music venue. 

Here's a schedule of the acts christening the stage:

Thursday, June 5th

  • 7 p.m.: Toby Thomas Churchill
  • 8: Lion or Gazelle
  • 9: Fever Dream
  • 10: Germaine & Rich
  • 11: The People Say Fox
  • 12 a.m.: Jaw Knee Vee

Friday, June 6th

  • 7 p.m.: Charlie Parr
  • 8: Barbara Jean
  • 9: Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank
  • 10: Red Mountain
  • 11: Southwire w/ Ben Weaver
  • 12 a.m.: Strange Names

Saturday, June 7th

  • 8 p.m.: Sarah Kreuger
  • 9: The Murder of Crows

    The Minnesota State Fair experienced a record-breaking day on Saturday. Fair officials said 252,092 people attended, breaking the all-time record for the highest attended single day in the fair's history. As of Saturday, people visited the fairgrounds nearly 1.5 million times this year.

  • St. Paul Police Defend Officers in Stun-Gun Video

    The St. Paul police union is defending three officers caught on camera using a stun gun on a man who was sitting in a downtown skyway. The man said he did nothing wrong. Police say he refused "numerous lawful orders for an extended period of time."
