WDIO and the Duluth Superior Transportation Association are joining forces to raise funds and collect non-perishable food items for Second Harvest Northern Food Bank the weekend of June 6th-8th!

Shaye Moris from Second Harvest and Jay Baker from Lake States Lumber dropped by the show to tell us about the fundraiser.

The DSTA works to support transportation efforts throughout the region, and Second Harvest benefits from the transportation industry directly. Halvor Lines Inc. and Sue Vinje Trucking both have provided free hauling of donated food from St. Paul to Duluth's Second Harvest building. Halvor lines alone brings 1.3 million pounds of donated food to the food bank annually, and saves Second Harvest over $23,000 in expense.

In light of their work together, the DSTA will have a truck at Cub Foods in Duluth 6th through the 8th, collecting monetary and non-perishable food donations as part of the Fill a Truck, Feed a Family Food and Fund Drive.

You can donate at the truck at Cub Foods in Duluth on Friday, June 6th from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 7th from 1000 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., and on Sunday, June 8th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

If you'd like to learn more about the DSTA, you can visit them at their website, duluthsuperiortransportation.com, and Second Harvest at northernlakesfoodbank.org
