MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings have signed former Philadelphia Eagles safety Kurt Coleman.

The contract was finalized Thursday. Coleman agreed to the deal Monday after visiting team headquarters last week.

The seventh-round draft pick in 2010 out of Ohio State played the last four seasons for the Eagles, starting 29 of the 59 games he played in, though none of those starts came last year. Coleman's best season was 2011, when he had four interceptions, five passes defended and one forced fumble. In 2012, he was second on the team with a career-best 105 tackles despite missing two games.

Harrison Smith is entrenched as a starter at one safety spot, with Jamarca Sanford and Andrew Sendejo the leading returning candidates for the lineup at the other position.
