A Duluth-bound flight was delayed Monday night after hitting a swarm of bees, according to a spokesperson with Allegiant Air.

The incident was reported just after 5:30 p.m. CST by a flight crew on a plane flying from Las Vegas, Jessica Wheeler tells Eyewitness News. She said the plane turned back because the flight crew felt they needed a new aircraft.

Wheeler said the 161 passengers on board were put on another flight, and were expected to land at least 1 1/2 hours late. The Duluth International Airport website showed that flight 448 was expected to arrive just after 10:30 p.m.
