After months of speculation and $3 million in flood repairs, downtown Duluth's Radisson hotel has been sold.

Known for it's revolving restaurant, J.J. Astor, the Radisson had to close for several weeks in August 2013 when flooding damaged much of the lower floor of the property.

Visit Duluth Board Chair Gerry Goldfarb, who's also general manager of the Holiday Inn and Suites on Superior Street, says this is very good for Duluth.

"The Radisson and the Holiday Inn are the two largest convention hotels in Duluth and I think having new ownership for the Radisson is very positive," Goldfarb said Friday.

Goldfarb says the Holiday Inn is investing in their hotel and it is his understanding the new owners of the Radisson are already preparing to make additional investments in their hotel.

Goldfarb says as we head into the busy summer tourism season, having solid new ownership for the Radisson will be very good for Duluth's overall hospitality industry.
