The Duluth Scottish Heritage Association, or the DSHA, is kicking off an early start to St. Patrick's Day with their 4th Annual Spring Concert. Bagpipes, Scottish dancing, Celtic fiddling, and Irish jigs will be performed for the public.

Jason Reid, chairman of the DSHA Spring Concert Committee, stopped by the show Monday morning, and he was accompanied by David Bouschor, former pipe major for the DSHA pipes & drums band.

Jason tells us that this event came about because four years ago, "there was a few of us who thought there was a lull in the spring time between all of our other events," and so they decided to hold a concert to display all of their talented members, like bag pipers and dancers. "It's been really successful the last four years and we're glad to do it again."

Jason says that even though they are the Scottish Heritage Association, Scottish and Irish heritages have a lot in common, such as kilts or saffrons, and both play highland bagpipes. Both cultures have a Celtic background.

You can catch all the great bagpiping and dancing Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Auditorium on the campus of the College of Saint Scholastica.

You can learn more on their Facebook event page.
