Rapper Ludacris to Perform in Duluth

Rap star and actor Ludacris is scheduled to perform in Duluth this April.

Ludacris, whose real name is Christopher Brian Bridges, will perform in Amsoil Arena on Friday, April 11 at 8 p.m. in a show presented by the UMD Kirby Program Board.  Two-9 and DJ Sidereal will also perform.

Ludacris released his debut album Back for the First Time in 2000, which contained the singles "Southern Hospitality" and "What's Your Fantasy".   In 2001, he released Word of Mouf, followed by Chicken-n-Beer in 2003.   He took a more serious approach with his next three albums, The Red Light District (2004), Release Therapy (2006), and Theater of the Mind (2008).  His latest record, Battle of the Sexes, was released in 2010.  As an actor, he has appeared in films including 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), Crash (2004), Gamer (2009), Fast Five (2011), New Year's Eve (2011), and Fast & Furious 6 (2013).

Tickets start at $39 and go on sale to the general public on Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. at the DECC Ticket office, all Ticketmaster locations, and by phone at 800-745-3000. According to the fliers posted at UMD, UMD students will be able to purchase tickets at a reduced rate of $15 starting Feb. 24 at the Kirby Student Center information desk.

    The Minnesota State Patrol said one person was killed and two others seriously injured in a three-vehicle accident in Cass County. The accident happened on Highway 64 just before 2 p.m. on Saturday.

    Traffic may be moving slower than normal travelling south on Interstate 35 near Cloquet starting Monday. MnDOT says a stretch from County Rd. 3 to Highway 33 will be reduced to a single lane for about two weeks.
