The public comment period on a proposed quarantine to slow the spread of gypsy moths in Lake and Cook Counties was extended Tuesday.
Lumber industry leaders fear the quarantine would make their wood unusable and take a cut out of business.
But state officials say it's a necessary step to stop the invasive pest from ruining our forests.
If you would like to weigh in, public comments are now being accepted until March 12th.
The quarantine is scheduled to go into effect April 30th.

Man Pleads Guilty in Deaths of Parents
An Iron River, Wis., man has pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree intentional homicide in the deaths of his parents last winter. 45-year-old James Crain, Jr., entered the plea Tuesday as part of a plea agreement.
