'Lucia in Flight' at Weber Music Hall, UMD

Created: 02/10/2014 8:57 AM WDIO.com

Rob Banks and Alice Pierce stopped by the show Monday morning to give us a preview of the upcoming opera, "Lucia in Flight", playing at Weber Music Hall on the UMD campus.  "Lucia in Flight" is a condensed version of "Lucia di Lammermoor".

Alice is the director of the opera, while Rob plays the role of Henry Ashton.

"The story is about two families who are feuding: the Ashton's and the Ravenswood's," Alice tells us. Lucy Ashton (Lucia) is the sister of Enrico Ashton (Henry), played by Rob Banks. The story is set in Scotland in the 17th century.

Rob gave us a sneak preview towards the end of the interview of his amazing operatic voice, you have to take a listen!

If you'd like tickets, you can head to www.tickets.umn.edu, and you can find more information at www.d.umn.edu/sfa. The opera is at Weber Music Hall on UMD's campus, at 7:30 pm on Saturday, February 15th.
