Home a 'Total Loss' in Central Hillside Blaze

A fire broke out late Wednesday night around 11:00 PM at 614 N 3rd Avenue East.

According to the Duluth Fire Department, the blaze engulfed both floors of the 1 1/2 story house. No one was home at the time.

Fire crews were on scene for over three hours. The house and everything inside are a total loss, the department said. Damage is estimated at $75,000.

Twenty firefighters from the Downtown, Lincoln Park, and UMD stations responded.

    The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says two suspects in a home burglary had clicked "Like" on a surveillance photo of an accomplice posted on the sheriff's office's Facebook page.  The two are scheduled to make preliminary court appearances next week.
