Sled dogs and mushers are getting prepped for the Beargrease Marathon that starts Sunday, but first the community has to crown this year's cutest puppy.

Over 40 puppies and their owners lined up to strut their stuff at the Fitger's Complex in Duluth on Saturday. The cuteness was overwhelming for many as hordes of puppy lovers cast their ballots.

Organizers said the winter will certainly love the taste of victory.

“We have a prize package of almost $500 put together for first place. There's some Sojos food, some actual treats, some training classes and things like that. It's a great package,” Event Coordinator Jamie Parent said.

Registration fees for the event go to support the Beargrease Marathon. The marathon launches at 1 p.m. on Sunday from Duluth East High School.
