Just about everyone with a puppy thinks their pooch is the cutest. Well, Saturday, January 25 is your chance to put that theory to the test. The Cutest Puppy Contest is back at Fitger's in Duluth as part of the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon festivities.
Puppies of any breed between four and nine months (16-36 weeks) are eligible to enter the contest on Saturday. Owners must ring proof of shots with them for the contest: Dewormed, Distemper, Hepatitis, Para Influenza, Parvovirus (DHPP), Rabies (if at least 3 months / 12 weeks).
The contest's coordinator, Tami Tanski Sherman stopped by Good Morning Northland Friday to preview the event. She says there are still plenty of spots open for folks to enter their precious pooch in the contest.
The registration for canine contestants opens at 11:30 a.m. at the Fitger's complex. You can also preregister online at www.beargrease.com.
Tanski Sherman was joined by Lauren Lundeen and her dog Riley Monday on the Good Morning Northland set. Riley is a golden retriever poodle mix, otherwise known at a goldendoodle, and Lundeen is exited for her pup to get out and mingle.
If you don't have a puppy to enter, come on down Saturday and be a judge. Everyone is invited to meet the puppies and cast their vote. Voting runs from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday. Ballots are free.
There have been more than 1,000 judges in years past. So, dog owners and their pups will want to look (and smell) your best! It's $10 to enter your puppy and each contestant gets a goody bag. Prizes will be awarded to the top three picks.
This is an indoor event and Tanski Sherman asks owners to bring supplies in case of an accident.
