Nine new police officers were sworn-in to the Duluth Police Department on Thursday afternoon.

Family and friends packed the training room at the public safety building, to see the years of hard work pay off.

Some of the officers have prior experience, like Sean Fraser, who worked in Hibbing before this.

"One of the best things about being a police officer, is that something is always changing. It's always new and exciting. You  never know what to expect."

Mike Renier was sworn in, in front of his father, who worked for Duluth PD as well.

"This is the most important day of my life. My dad was a police officer here for years. I've been looking forward to this day forever," Renier said.

Chief Gordon Ramsay told the nine that there is no better department in the state. 152 officers work to keep Duluth safe.
