Warm up your winter with a hilarious and brand-new comedy from Renegade Theater Company.  "All New People" is an 'of the moment' comedy that skewers a generation of self-obsessed spoiled brats by taking the classic farce and giving it a hysterical, emo-fueled edge.

"It is very, very funny and when we read it one of the things that struck us first is just how funny it is.  It's like 90 minutes of non-stop laughter" Director Andy Bennett said.

In the dead of winter, at the luxury Long Beach Island apartment of a wealthy his wealthy friend, Charlie has hit rock bottom on his 35th birthday.  Heartbroken, he is about to hang himself, but at just that moment a high-priced call girl, the town fireman and an eccentric British real estate agent show up to spoil his good time.  Soon, Charlie is forced to come to terms with the misery of being young and handsome in a world that wants him to actually contribute something of value.

"Our main goal is to get people to laugh for 90 minutes in the middle of a cold bleak winter," Bennett said.  "But it also scratches an itch that I've felt for a long time, which is this idea of a generation that expects the world owes them everything just because they were born.  It's also a beautiful story in the way they deal with that."

One of the first things Bennett says attracted him to the script was the play's writer, Zach Braff.  Braff is best known as the start of the smash-hit TV comedy "scrubs" and as the writer, director and start of the award-winning film "Garden State."

"He wrote a lot of things that are really fun for a writer, they're really funny ideas," Bennett said,  "But then when you try to actually put them up, they're impossible."

"all New People" opens Thursday, January 23 at Teatro Zuccone, 222 East Superior Street in downtown Duluth. The production runs January 23-25, 30 - February 1 and 6-8.  All performances are at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for students and seniors.  Call 218-336-1416 for tickets or purchase them online at www.teatrozuccone.com.
