Instead of winter boots, you'll find Jake Saari in running shoes even when temperatures drop to -25 degrees.
"I am just on my way to work," Saari said. "Once it's below zero, it doesn't make a difference what it is."
Five days a week Saari is either biking, walking or running three miles to work. Monday he even turned down a ride from a fellow employee.
"I think everyone should try it," Saari said. "It's a different perspective. You see things differently."
While his eyes may be covered in ice, they're focused on the prize.
"My work gives me a dollar every day that I walk or bike or run," Saari said. "So, I have a dollar before I clock in."
Saari works at Aerostich in Duluth.
"It encourages a different form of transportation," Marketing Director Kyle Allen said. "It's good for the environment. It's easier on the roadways."
Aerostich manufactures and sells gear for motorcycle riding and Allen said encouraging alternate transportation is fitting for the company.
"It has definitely made me a stronger person for doing it," Saari said. "I never would have thought I could do it."
With each step, Saari gets a little faster. We asked him if he planned on running again Tuesday, and this was his answer.
"Oh, definitely," Saari said. "There's no question about it."
Saari said since he started his job last summer he's never used a car or bus to get to work. He also added this is a personal decision for him and not something he's forced to do.
Aerostich said they also pay for employee bus passes if they want them.

The Superior Police Department has released the name of a homicide victim in Superior Tuesday evening. They say 20-year-old Garth H. Velin of Superior was killed. Police say they are still searching for the person responsible.
