Johnson, Sensenbrenner At Odds over Lawsuit

Created: 01/06/2014 10:12 AM WDIO.com

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Two Republican members of Wisconsin's congressional delegation are at odds over a lawsuit that challenges a provision of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner is criticizing Sen. Ron Johnson over his plan to sue the federal Office of Personnel Management over a rule that allows congressional members and their staff to receive health benefits similar to other federal employees. Johnson says that amounts to "special treatment for members of Congress and their staffs under Obamacare."

Sensenbrenner calls Johnson's lawsuit "an unfortunate political stunt."  The congressman says Johnson "should spend his time legislating rather than litigating."

Johnson says he's "disappointed and puzzled" by Sensenbrenner's disagreement on ending special treatment for congressional members and staff that that all but two Republicans, including Sensenbrenner, have voted for.
